Thai-Korea Industry 4.0 Showcase

Thai-Korea Industry 4.0 Showcase hosted by Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) at InterContinental Hotel Bangkok on September 2, 2019.

The objective of this event is to look for a mutual collaboration and potential growth between Thailand and Korea in relation to Thailand 4.0 policy and Korea Innovative Growth Policy as a first time initiative event.

With a great support from 12 Thai Exhibitors; 4 of those were from Thai Automation and Robotics Association as follows:
1) CoXSys Robotics Co., Ltd. - Holographic Advertising Robot
2) SP Vision Technology Co., Ltd. - AI Deep Learning for Vision System
3) Precision Motion Products Co., Ltd. - Delta Robot
4) Unical Works Co., Ltd. – UNiBOT
The other 32 Korean exhibitors presented main exhibition themes i.e., Next Generation Car, Smart Factory, Smart Health Care and Digital Life.

Thai PM Prayut Chan-o-cha has invited South Korean investors to increase their investment and trade with Thailand. The PM said Thai Cabinet will consider offering incentives for South Korean businesses to invest in the country. South Korean President Moon Jae-in capped off an official two day visit to the Kingdom yesterday.

Speaking at the forum the Thai PM spoke about Thailand 4.0 – the transformation of the country’s economic structure from an agriculture-based economy into a value or digital-based economy. Also about the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) project that was attracting investment from around the world.

Mr. Prayut also spoke about how Thailand could continue to learn from South Korea as they had been able to turn their country from agricultural economy into a manufacturing superpower over a number of decades.

Speaking at the forum, President Moon said Thailand is one of the most important trading partners for his government’s New Southern Policy which has been successful in broadening partnerships with South East Asian nations and India. President Moon mentioned specific industries where he saw greater economic partnerships and trade in the future – automation, smart automotive technologies, energy, digital technology – that would assist Thailand to achieve its 4.0 goals. He then also updated of Start Ups 9 Unicorns in Korea. 

Later Khun Tevin Vongvanich, Advisory Chairman to the Board of Directors of InnoSpace (Thailand) shared that InnoSpace is National Platform for Start-up Ecosystem which consists of many partners such as Business, Government and Academic.  It focused 3 Pillars to support Thailand 4.0 that are biotech, Meditech and Industry 4.0.

Additionally, on September 3, 2019 as the second day of the event was about One-on-One Business Matching activity between Thai entrepreneurs and 19 world leading in technologies Korean Companies held at Centara Grande, Central World.

Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) plans to conduct further trade and investment activities in different industry segments.  Next event will be Metalex and Trade Delegation in Thailand.  For further information please follow on Kotra website. 

Thai Automation and Robotics Association (TARA) found in 2019 by the group of entrepreneurs who specialize in Robotics and Automation field.  Providing a mutual synergy to lead the industry by developing new technologies to enhance industries’ productivities as the main key factor in driving Thailand 4.0.
